What is UrAssist?
UrAssist is a personal external pump-assisted urine collection device. It is an alternative to some catheters, adult diapers, urinals and bedpans.

Why do you need a pump to collect urine?
The fluid pump drains the urine from the collection cup into the collection bag reducing unwanted moisture, potential spilling and leakage which can lead to rashes, infections, and sores.

How does UrAssist work?
The user urinates into an external, non-invasive collection cup. A fluid pump drains the urine from the collection cup through the tubing and into a collection bag that has enough capacity to store up to 1100 ml - about a day's volume of urine. (The average adult voids approx. 960ml/day).

How do I incorporate UrAssist into my lifestyle?
UrAssist is for use at home or on the go attaching to wheelchairs, scooters, beds, and it even has an accessory enabling use while in an easy chair.

What wheelchairs can it mount to?
UrAssist attaches to the arm of leading brands of powered chairs and scooters. With the use of the "Valet Arm" accessory, UrAssist attaches to manual wheelchairs.

Is UrAssist for me?
UrAssist offers a solution for men and women with limited bladder control - who "know they have to go" as well as people with mobility issues preventing them to get to the bathroom on time.

What does UrAssist weigh?
UrAssist measures about the size of a laptop and weighs approximately 5 lbs empty and 6 lbs when full.

How much urine does the collection bag hold?
UrAssist stores up to 1100 ml of urine.

What makes UrAssist better than what I'm currently using?
UrAssist may minimize the risk of slip and fall accidents by providing convenient bedside, wheelchair and easy chair access. Also, if you are currently using a catheter, UrAssist greatly reduces the risk of an infection since it's non-invasive. UrAssist reduces unwanted moisture, spills and leaking. It's easy to use, private, discreet, and you don't have to wear it under clothing.

Does UrAssist replace a catheter?
Not entirely. UrAssist is an alternative to catheters that are administered for convenience purposes.

What accessories does UrAssist come with?
UrAssist comes with a rechargeable battery, quick charge adaptor, and carry case with handle and storage pockets.

How long does the battery last?
When charged it will go about 300 hours before needing recharging. It recharges in about 3 hours.

What supplies are needed?
A cup/tubing assembly, and a collection bag. (Sold separately)

How often do the supplies need replacing?
It is suggested the supplies be replaced at minimum on a biweekly basis.

What are the monthly costs for supplies?
People can expect to pay approximately $30 per month for supplies.

Is UrAssist cleared by the FDA?
Yes, UrAssist received its FDA 510(k) in October, 2006.

Does UrAssist come in any other colors?
At this time, UrAssist is available in a black carry case. The collection cups are gender-specific with white for male and pink for female.

What is the warranty?
UrAssist offers a limited one-year warranty to consumers with original proof and date of purchase.

Is UrAssist covered by Medicare?
UrAssist is not currently covered by Medicare. PMD intends to seek coverage in the spring of 2007 in accordance with Medicare's application requirements.

Is UrAssist covered by insurance companies?
UrAssist is not currently covered by insurance companies. PMD is currently in contact with a number of commercial insurers to pursue coverage.
